So I finally got the first jump ridable. It’s still a bit small and I have to ride my brakes all the way down the drop-in so that I don’t over shoot it, but it’s a pretty good start.

Welcome to this week’s taste of small town trouble – straight from the December 3rd edition of the Nugget:

Deputies tracked down some people who failed to pay for a restaurant meal. They claimed it was all a miscommunication, which may be true since the parties were intoxicated.
There were several deer vs. vehicle collisions that ended badly for the deer and required towing for the vehicles.
Someone threw a rock through a window of a mobile home.
A man was cited for driving uninsured – and his load of wood was seized.
A woman reported that she was forced off the road by a bad driver.
An unidentified dog went on a chicken killing rampage, taking down 15.
Two men were cited for being in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
A deputy took a report on illicit use of a hot tub.

organic food

my wife converted me almost entirely to organic food a couple years ago and I’ve never looked back. as a fan of organic food and Star Wars, I found this video pretty entertaining!

I came across it via this post on Outside Magazine’s blog:

it references a this article on CNN.com about the healthiest grocery store to shop at. Whole Foods tops the list (of course).

Radiant CMS

Well here we are on yet another iteration of JohnKnotts.com… this is like version #5 I believe. Please pardon the hiccups and site changes, but I’ve been trying to focus more on Ruby on Rails so I wanted to use a Rails based CMS… enter Radiant CMS. Plus I have a couple projects coming up where I’m hoping to use Radiant, so I figured the best way to familiarize myself with it was to use it on my own site. Yep, for better or worse, JohnKnotts.com is always the guinea pig.

Prayers for Scott

For any prayer warriors out there, please pray for my good friend and former boss Scott Halverson. He’s been fighting a rare form of cancer and things seem to be getting more and more challenging to say the least. I can’t imagine what it must be like for him and his family right now, so do please say a prayer for them.

the drop-in

so yea, it’s been over a month since my last post. my apologies, I’ve been busy with a few projects. stuff like driving back and forth across the country, literally. work, really. but the most fun of my projects that has put blogging on the back burner is my personal terrain park, aka the PTP. it’s got a long way to go, the ideas in my head make it pretty much an endless project, but I did hit a major milestone today. I got the drop-in ramp completed to the point where I can actually ride it. check it out:

First Snow!

That’s right. We woke up to white mountains yesterday morning! None here in town of course but amazingly the Three Sisters had a solid dusting either late on August 31st or early morning on September 1st. It was enough that even today there’s still a trace remaining on the northern faces.

Hopefully it’s an early sign of a winter filled with many pow days! I’m also anxiously awaiting a new post from our friends on the PCT to hear if they got snowed on…
