I twittered it before, but now we have official video of Travis snowboarding!
The video really doesn’t show how good he is… after this we grabbed some lunch and then rode the chairlift for the first time! This is only his second day, his progression is amazing.
Also big props to Mt. Bachelor for running a beginner lift for free. It’s a great way to get people into the sport which can be so expensive at the start. We can go up as a family and goof around and learn without dropping all kinds of cash.
A little reminder from last year…
Can’t wait to get up there again this year! Thanks for the video DK!
Yea! Mt. Bachelor opened today! DK and I snuck out of work and snagged a few powder shots.
It was dumping the whole time, pow was good, airtime was had. It was day 5 of the season for me, but the first day riding chairlifts… that was nice

This pic of Mt. Baker’s opening day (Nov. 12) came across Twitter the other day. I liked it so much I had to post it here.
I finally got up the Middle Sister a few weeks ago.
DK, Jeff and I spent the night at Demaris Lake and then DK and I went for the summit in the morning. It was nice to knock off another one of the Sisters and it was a super fun scramble up the southeast ridge with my buddy DK. I have a bunch of photos I should post, but DK just sent me this one he took with the timer on his camera at the summit. It cracks me up so I thought I’d post it.
Now we just need to knock off the ugly North Sister…
Oh yea, time to start thinking about snow again! Check out the ThirtyTwo footage from the 2009 Hot Dawgs & Handrails comp.

Some of those bails into and over the hay look pretty gnarly!
Classic! LOL! I think I actually remember seeing this on TV.
I’ve blogged about this in the past, and here it is again—more evidence that a beer after a workout is good for you

A conspiracy by the beer industry or truth? I'm banking on truth!
Since I posted on the woman’s waterfall record yesterday, I thought I’d show a video of the men’s waterfall record posted at Sports Illustrated. 186 feet! Gnarly.
Christie Glissmeyer sets new women’s world waterfall record at 82 feet!
On Mothers Day, May 10th 2009, Team Dagger's Christie Glissmeyer set a new women’s world waterfall record by running 82-foot Metlako Falls on Oregon's Eagle Creek.
Radness. Read the article on Paddling Life here.
A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOPING OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WILL SPREAD COLD AND MOIST AIR EAST OF THE CASCADES BEGINNING LATE TONIGHT CONTINUING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. ...THE MOUNTAINS COULD SEE SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW DURING THIS TIME.

I was about 90% sure we had seen the last powder of the season, but it looks like we'll have at least one more day! Unbelievably the forecast for Mt. Bachelor is calling for 5 to 9 inches tonight and 3 to 7 inches tomorrow. We'll see if it actually pans out.
It’s funny because it’s true…
Hilarious, but I feel like it’s an important lesson our generation is finally learning.
